Meet The Tafts!

Taft's Milk and Maple Farm is a family run dairy farm and maple sugaring operation located in the foothills of Camel's Hump Mountain in beautiful Huntington, Vermont. We milk 275 Jersey cows and have approximately 10,400 taps in our sugar bush. Bruce & Mary and their son Tim, along with his wife Margaret & son Kyle, work together to bring you the highest quality maple products available on the market today. Bruce, Tim & Kyle tap some of the same trees tapped by Bruce's father and grandfather, making Tim the fourth generation sugar maker and Tim's son Kyle the fifth generation!

Syrup
Production

Our sugarbush is located in the foothills of Camel’s Hump, one of the highest mountains in Vermont.

Our taps are on a pipeline system which enables the sap to flow directly to the sugarhouse or into collection tanks. Our sugarhouse is equipped with a 5'x16° wood-fired, forced draft evaporator. We are one of the last sizeable operations to still be fueled by wood! We have a "piggyback" pan that utilizes the steam from the evaporator to preheat & begin evaporating the sap, as well as an RO (reverse osmosis) machine that removes some of the water from the sap prior to boiling.

Both of these improve our efficiency, enabling us to burn less wood.

All of our syrup is pumped through a filter press to insure purity. Syrup is either packaged for retail sale or put into bulk barrels for later use. Some syrup is used to make other fine products like maple cream, candy and maple sugar.

All maple syrup and other fine products sold are produced right here on the premises! We take pride in producing top quality syrup and maple products and are happy to be able to share them with you. Enjoy!

2025 Maple Open House Weekend

🍁Maple Open House is a great time to fill up on maple cream donuts and spend time with the community!
🍁Stop by our sugarhouse from 11AM-3PM on March 22 & 23 to see the ins and outs of our maple production!
🍁Products available for purchase include: maple syrup, maple cream, maple candy, maple cotton candy, maple bread, maple sugar, and maple donuts.
🍁If planning on purchasing maple products, accepted payment methods include: cash and check
🍁Parking is available in the barnyard at 674 Camels Hump rd, HUNTINGTON, VT 05462. Make sure your navigation system says Huntington and NOT Duxburry. Our sugarhouse is located across the street from our barn.
🍁Our barn will be open and you will have the opportunity to meet our cows and calves. We will have farm personnel in the barn available to answer questions about our dairy.
